The Provincial Minister for Energy, Industries, Commerce, Investment & Skill Development (ICI&SD) Department chaired the 15th meeting of the Executive Committee of Punjab PPP Authority (P4A) on 31 October 2023. The meeting has approved Project Development Fund (PDF) requests for two important projects, ‘Construction of underground parking plaza facilities at the outside Gates of wall City, Lahore and ‘Lahore Waste Recycling’ under PPP Mode.
The Underground Parking Plaza project promises to alleviate traffic congestion, tackle parking scarcity, and enhance the Walled City's historical and commercial significance. Mr. Iqbal Hussain, CEO P4A presented a holistic picture, emphasizing its potential to transform the city's landscape, alleviate environmental concerns, and foster an enriched cultural experience for both residents and tourists. The other project waste recycling is aligned with the mission of LWMC to efficiently manage the waste collection, transportation, treatment, and disposal processes. The CEO P4A highlighted the underline the dangers of toxic gases emanating from solid waste and firmly supported the project, emphasizing the environmental and health hazards that it aimed to mitigate.
During the meeting, the Committee also deliberated on administrative and financial matters of P4A, underscoring the importance of cost-effectiveness in project execution. The Provincial Minister stressed the need for efficiency and resource conservation, emphasizing the broader societal benefits that efficient projects can bring. He acknowledged the caretaker government's efforts in enhancing public facilities, reinforcing the government's commitment to progress and public welfare.
