Punjab moves ahead with new PPP projects for Roads, Water and Public Facilities

The Punjab Public Private Partnership Authority (P4A) has approved a number of new project concepts under the PPP mode to improve road connectivity, urban water supply, and the delivery of essential public services across Punjab.

In the road sector, the Authority approved 23 PPP concepts for the dualization of major highways, construction of additional carriageways, and operation and maintenance of key provincial roads. These projects will now be taken forward for the preparation of detailed PPP project proposals and are expected to reduce travel time, enhance road safety, and lower travel-related costs for road users. The initiatives are designed to improve connectivity across important agricultural, industrial, and urban corridors.

The Authority also approved water supply and sanitation project concepts for Chakwal and Kasur, aimed at rehabilitating aging infrastructure, improving the reliability of drinking water supply, and upgrading wastewater treatment facilities. Upon implementation, these projects are expected to improve public health outcomes and environmental conditions in the two cities.

In addition, the Authority reviewed a student accommodation project concept for public sector universities and medical colleges. The project will be developed further under the PPP mode in consultation with the relevant departments and seeks to address the shortage of safe, affordable, and on-campus housing for students across Punjab.
